For years, people have been talking about how great it would be to have pickup trucks from luxury automakers like BMW or even Tesla. Mercedes will be the first to cross this bridge, but Elon Musk recently revealed his future plans and they include something like our Model P.
Because Musk's idea of an electric SUV looks like a stimulation device with wheels and very little ground clearance, we're sure the Tesla pickup will not look this good.

How good? Try to imagine the all-new 2017 Ford SVT Raptor with flared arches, big wheels and the face of a Model X. Or better yet, why don't we check out the rendering made by Virtuel Car, some French Photoshop experts.

The founder of Tesla seems to have made it his life goal to put the company name on everything that moves, including rockets and trains. In that regard, he is the better version of Kanye West.

We're not sure when the Tesla pickup will arrive, but celebrities will surely buy one. The biggest market for this luxury EV maker is the United States and will remain so for the foreseeable future. And considering how popular the Chevy Silverado and Ford F-150 are, we could see a million orders for the "Model P" quite easily.

For the moment, nobody knows anything about the vehicle other than the fact that Musk called it "a new kind of pickup." Considering he put falcon doors on the Model X, we wouldn't be surprised to see six wheels and roof-mounted lasers this time around.

Of course, there haven't even been any true hybrid trucks yet, so Tesla's EV powertrain by itself will give us "a new kind of truck".

The funny thing is that in its own way, Ford is also trying to make greener pickup trucks. Much like the new GT, the SVT Raptor is going down the turbocharged V6 route. Much like Porsche is going to respond to Tesla's presence on its sportscar turf, Ford could eventually make an electric F-150. Never say never!
