Having gone into production in 2015, the Tesla Model X gained an entry-level variant in the form of the 60D back in July 2016. Only three months later, the Palo Alto-based electric vehicle automaker dropped the Model X 60D in favor of the Model X 75D.
This turn of events is confirmed by the Tesla Design Studio for the North American and British markets. As things stand at the time of writing, the Model X lineup is made up for three variants: the 75D ($85,500), the 90D ($95,500), and the P100D ($135,500). In the second screenshot featured in the gallery, you can see how the Model X Design Studio looked a little while back, listing the 60D at $74,000. Curiosities don’t end here, though.

When Tesla introduced the Model X 60D, the manufacturer announced that the 60 kWh battery is actually a 75 kWh pack. In the Model X’ case, the automaker charged $9,000 on top of the car’s suggested retail price to unlock the remaining 20 percent of battery capacity. Be that as it may, the Tesla Model S continues to be offered in 60 kWh and 60D flavors. A 75 kWh upgrade is also available for those who need the superior range.

Other than ramping up the price of the Model X by $11,000 by deleting the entry-level 60D variant, we spotted two more changes operated to the Tesla Design Studio. Regarding paint options, the Model S and its high-riding brother are no longer available in Silver Metallic and Solid White. This brings the number of color options down to 7. Last, but not least, Smart Air Suspension is now a standard option on all variants of the Model X.

Sure, the Smart Air Suspension offers considerably better ride comfort compared to yesterday’s coil suspension, but this also reflects in the price. The older Model X 60D with coils retailed for $2,500 less than a vehicle with standard Smart Air Suspension. On the other hand, the Model S in P100D guise is the only variant to come with Smart Air Suspension from the get-go. On the 60 kWh and 60D, 75D, and 90D, it’s a $2,500 optional extra.
