While the Tata Nano failed to meet even the most basic crash safety requirements, but the Indian company that makes it is in the hearts and minds of many motorists in one of the world's biggest markets. So a bit of vision for the future is necessary from time to time, and that's just what the ConnectNext Concept presented today at the new Delhi Auto Expo.
The electric car is similar to the numerous mobility concepts seen from Japanese automakers over the years, designed with maximum visibility for its passengers. To that end, the doors and the boot lid are all transparent.
Despite being only about four meters long, the MPV has a very large interior because the wheels are placed right at the outer edges of the car. Four thin bucket seats with futuristic designs seemingly float from the center console that runs the length of the car.
It's a beautiful, well made and airy design, miles from the Nana, which meets only the most basic needs for transportation. But India buyers can only hope and dream than in a few decades Tata's cars will progress to this level.
