Factory tours are a pretty awesome experience, and if you’ve never had the chance to do one, you should definitely look into it. In the meantime, though, (or if you just want to see another one), Chrysler has teamed up with Google Maps to create an innovative virtual tour of the Sterling Heights Assembly Plant to highlight the all-new 2015 Chrysler 200.
The Chrysler 200 Factory Tour uses the Google Maps Business View, which appears to be the same technology behind Google Street View, and in this application, the camera takes users along a 360-degree interactive journey inside the five million square foot plant. Users can “walk” through 12 different stations of the plant starting with body assembly right through to quality control and the finished product.

In addition to the different views of the plant, the tour also provides various interactive videos along the way. One of the coolest of these videos, though, might be the laser brazing portion of the body shop where the roof and side body shells are welded together. There are 12 different videos to watch, and like the regular portion of the tour, the views allow for 360 degrees of interactive viewing.

I personally wish everyone could visit the plant to walk through and experience the fascinating process live. But since we can’t bring people to the plant, we've worked with Google to openly bring the plant to the people, so they can themselves experience how these processes drive precision, reliability and deliver an exceptional and truly all-new Chrysler 200,” said Olivier Francois, chief marketing officer, Chrysler Group LLC.

We can understand why Chrysler is so keen on promoting this plant, too. To gear up for the 2015 Chrysler 200, the plant received a $1 billion investment. If you want to tour Chrysler’s Sterling Heights Assembly Plant from the comfort of your own home, be sure to visit www.chrysler200factory.com.
