TAG Motorsport Brings BMW E36 M3 Back to Life

The guys from TAG Motorsports are back, bringing old Bimmers back to life. After building a brilliant red BMW E30 M3, they came a little closer to nowadays and worked on a E36 M3.

The car they picked out is an Alpine White Coupe dating back to the 90s, a time when the chassis of a car was more important than turbocharging a 2-liter engine. Not that there’s something wrong with turbocharging...

The Bimmer received a full set of 18-inch HRE Wheels in Gloss Gold Finish, perfect for a car its age. To make everything fit together perfectly, they also included an ST coil over system that brought the whole car a lot closer to the ground.

The wheels are actually perfect for the M3 if you think about it. Back when it was launched, racing versions used a similar design for their rims, especially on the track due to their rather obvious advantages.

As for the specs, the E36 M3 was built in two different versions. Initially it used a 3-liter inline 6-cylinder engine making 286 HP and 236 lb-ft (320 Nm) of torque in its European aplication. Later on, once the facelift was launched, the S50 was replaced by the S50B32 that had a larger displacement (3.2 liters) and made more power, being rated at 321 HP and 258 lb-ft (350 Nm) of torque. This is the one to get if you ask us.

Unfortunately for the US market, the engines customers on this side of the Atlantic had were a lot less... enthusiastic. They had the same displacement but made 240 HP instead. Another disappointment came when the facelift version came out and it had the same amount of horsepower and only slightly more torque (up to 236 lb-ft instead of 225 lb-ft)

In the end, the M3 turned into a real class act, and TAG Motorsports is the team the owner has to thank. Good job guys!
