TAG Heuer has been around Le Mans 24 Hours for decades, so it’s no wonder they chose to be there this year too. This time, however, they opted for a TAG Heuer Carrera “NISMO” special edition that celebrates Nissan’s return to the premier class of the Le Mans 24 Hours with their Nissan GT-R LM NISMO. The Swiss luxury timepiece makers claim the Japanese racing beast somehow reflects the same values they put out in their watches.
Believe it or not, one of the world’s greatest races is an integral part of the history of the Swiss brand. They were there in the 1970s with Ferrari, and of course with Steve McQueen and his Monaco watch for the cult Le Mans film.
Since we know you’ll be busy watching the race this weekend, you should know that TAG Heuer’s logo on the three GT-R LM NISMOs is there for a reason.
“The Nissan GT-R LM NISMO reflects a pioneering spirit that echoes with TAG Heuer – authentic Avant-Garde design. A revolutionary new car, the GT-R LM NISMO represents a true technological challenge, featuring a front-engined and front-wheel drive design,” the watchmakers explain.
The timepiece itself features an ultra light black titanium case, which is one of only four special editions featured in the TAG Heuer range. Among the features you can consult in the press release, we’ll mention it’s black with charcoal grey and red bands on the dial in titanium, micro-blasted with titanium carbide. These features offer extreme resistance while the watch remains lighter than steel.
