Suzuki Launches SV650 Scrambler In France

The scrambler craze is full on, and even Suzuki had to update its 2017 SV650 to look like one and offer clients a new alternative. It certainly looks cool, but the problem is the fact it’s only available in France for the moment.

I’m not gonna lie, I do love the rough look of scrambler motorcycles, and if I had a truckload of money I would have one from each manufacturer that offers such a model. The new Suzuki SV650 Scrambler isn’t a full-on scrambler, but more of a look-at-me one. Still, it would be nice to have one.

And I say that because all the mechanics remain the same. The engine is stock, the suspension is untouched, and even the exhaust is left untouched, so no classic raised pipes for you.

What it does come with are a lot of aluminum accessories, including a small wind deflector, radiator shrouds, chain guard, and front mudguard. Add a retro-style headlight protection, slightly raised bars, a brown saddle with stitching, small LED indicators, beartrap foot pegs, and a set of Dunlop Mutant tires and you end up with a nicely customized SV650.

In France, the Suzuki SV650 Scrambler costs €7,999 (VAT included), which is €1,400 more over the standard model. ABS and Euro 4 emission regulation compliance are offered by default.

Suzuki didn’t reveal any plan on selling the bike elsewhere for now. It might be testing the market in France first (maybe because their bike is more about fashion or something) and could expand to other areas next year.

The launch of the new model is also accompanied by a cheesy promo video you can watch below. It’s about a guy that enters his garage where a standard SV650 stands. He then proceeds to touch different parts of the bike, and they start to magically transform one by one until the bike becomes the scrambler you see in the photos here.
