Supercharger Kit for Lotus Elise and Exige
- Lotus debuts supercharger kit for Elise and Exige
- Power increased to 218 hp
- Pricing is yet to be announced
Specifically, the kit will employ the same supercharger and intake manifold unit as the one available on the production Elise SC. It can be installed on any naturally aspirated Elise or Exige powered by a Toyota 2ZZ-GE engine, according to a release by Lotus.
As for the power increase, adding the supercharger kit will boost the final output from 189 horsepower to 218 hp, while torque is increased from 133 lb-ft to 155 lb-ft. Additionally, the maximum torque is now available at lower revs, namely 5,000 rpm, compared to 6,800 on the naturally aspirated models.
"Lotus Elise and Exige owners are genuine driving enthusiasts and that's what has attracted them to Lotus cars in the first place," said Lotus Cars USA, Inc. Director of Operations Arnie Johnson. "They will fully appreciate the dramatically enhanced driving character these Lotus Supercharger Kits will bring their vehicles and the peace of mind from a fully warranted, factory engineered kit."
Unfortunately, Lotus hasn't mentioned the price of neither the kit nor the installation but, in case you're interested, you could install the supercharger through one of the Lotus dealers in the US and Canada.
