Super Clean BMW 1M Coupe Wears ADV.1 Wheels

While we’re waiting for the BMW M2 to come out, it’s nice to sit back an reminiscence of the car that came before it and started a whole new level of turbocharged madness: the BMW 1M Coupe.

It’s the car that many praised beyond the expectations of the M division, even though it was a bit peculiar. That’s because the car was developed basically in a hurry and sold at even greater speeds.

BMW announced from the get-go that this model will be manufactured in limited numbers. Initially the cap was set at 2,000 units but because everyone was so excited about it, it rose to 6,331 units over the following months.

All of them were built with a manual 6-speed gearbox and all of them used a different engine from what the Motorsport division got us used to. Instead of a newly developed unit with a proper “Sxx” codename, this one used an upgraded, bi-turbo version of the N54 unit that was fitted to the standard 135i model.

Even so, the power rose to 340 HP and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque, going up to 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) for short periods, thanks to the overboost function.

Having a perfect 50:50 weight distribution, rear-wheel drive, a light construction, compact body and inline 6-cylinder engine, this was widely regarded as an old-school model. It’s the same today.

Every time we see one, we can’t help but wonder how it would be like to sit behind its wheel. This one is all more special due to its wheels that are absolutely perfect for it.

They come from ADV.1 wheels and have a custom finish. Named ADV5.0 M.V2 SL they feature titanium faces and measure 20x9 inches up front and 20x11 inches round the back, plenty to keep things in control.
