This makes absolutely not sense. Why would you make a sports version of a hybrid version of a soft-roading hatchback? But Subaru likes to do things its own way and revealed the elaborate XV Hybrid tS with parts from the STI division.
It will go on sale this fall, just like the all-new Impreza. As you all know, this is probably the last model year for the current XV, which is derived from the old compact hatch. So maybe they wanted to send it off with a bang.

First things first, we have to talk about the engine. Just like the STI-tuned Subaru BRZ, you don't get any more power here. So Japanese customers will be left with 148 hp and 196 Nm (145 lb-ft) of torque from the 2-liter boxer and its small electric motor assist. Everything is sent to all-fours via a CVT gearbox.

While it's not fast, the XV Hybrid tS is certainly colorful and sporty looking They've clad the entire body in spoilers and skirts. The chin at the front seems about as pointless as the one for the GLA 45 AMG.

The real magic of this car is the way it's going to handle with all the suspension upgrades going on here. STI installed a flexible tower brace under the hood, strut suspension and coil springs at the front and new dampers and coil springs at the rear.

The trademark orange accent color complements the metallic body tone nicely. It's been applied to the skirts and the new 17-inch alloy wheels. The press release also says it also features dark gray grille, black side mirror casings. But you can hardly notice them with all the STI badges.

The interior kind of looks like the wheels, with white and orange on the seats, followed by black everywhere else. They used orange stitching for the steering wheel and orange piping on the carpets. Overall, it's about as classy as an old Ford Focus ST, which is just the way us petrolheads like it.
