While the event took place at the beginning of this month and we are approaching its end, editing raw footage takes some time, and Subaru has added a few extras to make the wait worth it.

We are aware this is not “Climb Dance,” but the driving seen in this video reminds us of an older onboard video of rally legend Ari Vatanen, driving an Opel Manta 400 at the 1983 Manx Rally.

It was held on the same roads, and the driving is just as extreme. Fortunately for Higgins, this year's run did not have an “Oh God” moment.

Any mistake could have ended terribly for Higgins, as he achieved an average lap speed of 128.73 mph (207.17 km/h) this year, and a lap time of 17 minutes and 35 seconds.

He shattered his former record by comparison, wiping almost two minutes out of the completion time, and raising the average speed by 12 mph (19 km/h), something that is hard to do on 37.73 miles (60.72 km).

The 20-minute video features Mark Higgins' commentary, which provides many insights on the run, the car, and the course. The rally driver said that he believes there is still room for improvement in some areas of the track, but with only a few chances to run it in a year, things get especially tricky.

Onboard video fans will be able to observe a virtual tachometer, a speedometer, a G-meter, and an overview of brake input, throttle application, DRS operation, and steering inputs. The gear indicator is visible on the digital gauge cluster.

The 2016 Subaru Impreza WRX STI used by Higgins in this race has been modified by Prodrive to suit the course. It is the first Subaru to feature DRS, and comes with parts from WRC cars, but with influence from Nurburgring and Le Mans expertize.

Subaru Technica International, the automaker's racing division, has ensured technical assistance for the car. Together, STI and Prodrive have three WRC titles between them, both in manufacturer and driver.

In over fourteen years, he got behind the wheel of several hundred vehicles and in the offices of the most important car publications in his homeland.
