Subaru Forester will receive an upgrade as announced by the Japanese carmaker's UK branch, in an attempt to raise the SUV's competitive attitute up a notch. There are even more goodies in the bag for Forester clients, as Subaru will keep its 100,000 mile, five year warranty scheme.
There's nothing to see in the exterior design department for Subaru's upgraded 2015 Forester model, but the manufacturer is showing that shallowness is not one of its values by gifting the SUV with new interior and powertrain features.

So, let's take it one by one. The biggest change is the introduction of a 2.0-liter Boxer diesel engine mated to a Lineartronic CVT (continuously-variable transmission) gearbox, designed to manage the engine's 148 HP and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque. According to Subaru, "characteristics of the transmission have been improved with additional soundproofing, while a manual mode provides drivers with seven pre-set 'gears' for greater control of the engine".

In the new engine and gearbox combination, the Subaru Forester will return 46.3 mpg and 158 g/km CO2. Not that it matters that much, but the car can now go from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.6 seconds.

Moving on to the interior, we find out that there's a new 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment and navigation system in the house, replacing the Pioneer dealer-fit ones. The system is also offering voice control, Bluetooth connectivity and the usual smartphone-like control functions and will come as standard on all XC, AC Premium and XT models sold in the United Kingdom.

According to Subaru, the quality of the interior was improved by using better looking and feeling materials, especially piano black for the central console and metallic highlights "in key locations around the dashboard". Prices start from £24,995 ($38,571 / 34,018 euro) for the 2.0D X version and can go as high as £30,995 ($47,832 / 42,184 euro) for the 2.0 DIT XT Turbo Lineartronic version. The 2015 Subaru Forester facelift will go on sale this spring, on April 1.
