Subaru Celebrates 4 Million Vehicles Built in Indiana
To celebrate the event, Subaru released a photo of the four millionth car alongside the very first Subaru, a first-generation Legacy, built at the Lafayette factory back in 1989.
“It’s the most produced vehicle and also the leading-selling vehicle built at SIA. We will be adding additional production next year with the next generation Legacy Outback and we also will be adding, in 2016, the new Impreza production,” said Tom Easterday, executive vice president of Subaru, adding that the five millionth vehicle will roll off in about three years and a half.
The Lafayette, Indiana assembly plant currently produces four models - the Subaru Outback, Legacy, Tribeca, and the Toyota Camry.
