Steven Spielberg Is Selling His $185-Million Yacht for a Bigger One

When the creator of Jaws and Jurassic Park is not busy advising Barack Obama for the president’s plan for life after the White House, the legendary director cruises the seas. In 2013, Steven Spielberg and his family used this particular yacht on a 30,000-mile round-the-world journey, stopping at some of his most notable film locations. The time has come for a bigger vessel to take its place.

There're two ways you take this piece of news. You can act as if you wouldn’t live by the same standards these wealthy celebrities do if you were to have similar bank accounts. Or you can admit that a fragile line separates the distance between modesty and opulence.

Hey, let’s face it, we’re dealing with one of the biggest figures in the American movie industry here. They don’t just consider him as one of the founding pioneers of the New Hollywood era for nothing. Is Spielberg one of the most famous and influential directors and producers in film history? Of course, he is. Is he rich? As wealthy as they come. We can’t see why he wouldn’t play around with a 282-feet megayacht, to be honest.

Yep, The Seven Seas is that big it’s like a private mansion only that’s floating instead. Built by renown Dutch luxury vessels maker Oceanco, the Cayman-Islands registered, oceangoing yacht comes with a navy hull, and it suits the liking of the iconic filmmaker. It boasts an infinity pool with a 15-ft. glass wall that could also be used as a movie screen, because let’s face it, everybody wants a floating cinema at their disposal.

We’re talking about proper affluence designed to accommodate 12 guests and a crew of 26. The Seven Seas has a private owner’s deck on a large master stateroom with a study and private deck area with a Jacuzzi. Add a helipad, fully equipped gymnasium, a spa and a massage room and you’ll get the bigger picture.

So you want to be a rock, superstar? Don’t worry, you can always rent it for about $1.25 million a week instead of buying it. Meanwhile, Steven Spielberg will be busy making sure his newer, 300-ft longer vessel is being built.

First world problems people, moving forward now.
