Steve McQueen's 1970 Porsche 911S Sold for $1,375,000 at Monterey Auction
The sports car was manufactured to the highest 1970 specification and had all the factory options. The 911S stars in the film’s opening as McQueen’s character, a Porsche driver, Michael Delaney, drives through the French countryside. Also, the 911S was used as McQueen’s personal transport during the film’s production. It is worth mentioning the fact that later the car joined his own extraordinary motor cars in California. Counting the sale of the 911S, translates into the 200th million-plus automobile sold at RM’s auctions.
Also, a 1899 Columbia Electric Landaulet , which was sold for $550,000 created a lot of vocals, setting a record price for an electric car sold at an auction at the same time. As a delight for enthusiasts, RM Auctions presented to concepts on behalf of Ford Motor Company, a mighty 2001 Ford Thunderbird Sports Roadster Concept Car and an amazing 2005 Ford Shelby GR-1 Concept Platform, for a combined $143,000 with benefits heading for the Juvenile Diabetes research Foundation.
We’d like to mention that a total of 145 automobiles will cross the auction stage across two days of history being brought back at one of the most significant auction presented on Monterey Peninsula.
