SSC Ultimate Aero TT Goes on Sale in India

The fastest production car in the world, the SSC (Shelby Super Car) Ultimate Aero TT is set to debut in India, which makes it the third market where the car is sold after the US and Russia. With a price tag of over Rs 6 crore (1.5 million dollars), the car will become the most expensive car sold in the country.

The Aero is priced around $654,400 (more than Rs 3 crore) on the US market. However, Indian customers will have to pay much more for the Aero because of the country’s high import duties of up to 100 percent, India Times reported. The Mercedes-Benz Maybach, currently the most expensive car sold in India, is priced around Rs 5 crore (1.12 million dollars).

India, the world’s second-fastest growing car market after China, saw its luxury car segment sales get a boost in the past few years. However, Shelby expects to sell a few dozen Aeros in India every year, due to the high price tag and the poor condition of the roads.

The car is powered by a 6.4-liter V8 twin turbo engine that produces an astonishing power of 1,183 bhp (882 kW) and 1,094 lb-ft of torque. The mid-mounted engine helps the car reach 100 km/h in 2.78 seconds and does a quarter mile in 9.9 seconds (144 mph). The top speed is 257.41 mph (414.31) km/h, the official website states.

The interior of the Aero, which will compete with other supercars such as Ferrari, Lamborghini, Bugatti and Koenigsegg, is luxurious to say the least, with 10-speaker DVD music system, 7.5-inch LCD screen, satellite navigation system and rear-view camera among the highlights.
