Korean carmaker SsangYoung is continuing its series of concept cars with the e-XIV, which will be shown at the Paris Motor Show 2012. As the name suggests, it’s an electric vehicle, which might preview a production version.
The e-XIV is basically an updated version of the XIV-2 shown at the Geneva Motor Show 2012 back in March. This translates into very similar dimensions. The e-XIV is 4,160mm long (164 inches), 1,790mm wide (70.5 inches), 1,575mm high (62 inches), and with a 2,600mm wheelbase (102.4 inches).
Since this is a two-door crossover, passengers in the back might feel a bit constrained, but this isn’t a problem because the e-XIV comes with a glass roof.
Details about the powertrain are strictly limited, but we can tell you it’s a range extended EV with a petrol motor that charges the batteries when they’re running low. Extra charge is achieved through the roof mounted solar cell panels that supply pollution free solar energy.
autoevolution will be attending the Paris Motor Show 2012, so stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of the vehicles, as well as for first-hand details of the motorized contraptions presented at the event.
