SsangYong’s New Korando Arrives in Australia
The new e-XDi200 turbocharged diesel engine, which produces 175 hp and 360 Nm (265 lb-ft) of torque, is found under the bonnet of the crossover. The engine is mated to either a six-speed manual or a six-speed, Australian designed and built, automatic.
“The Korando also ticks all the boxes when it comes to economy, low emissions, and safety and will attract customers to the Ssangyong brand that may never have considered the marque before. Competitive pricing, impressive levels of standard equipment, and Ssangyong’s strong record for reliability and durability combine to make the Korando a car that will be the most significant new model Ssangyong has ever launched,” said Jeff Barber.
A full suite of the latest safety devices have been included as standard. Among them, we would mention multifunction Electronic Stability Program (ESP) that incorporates active rollover protection, ABS, electronic brake force distribution, brake assist system and full traction control hill start assist. The Korando also comes with six SRS airbags, active head restraint for the front seats and multi load path body construction, that distribute collision energy evenly throughout the vehicle.
“With the strength and backing of new majority shareholder Mahindra and Mahindra, and the prospect of a raft of new models, we are very enthusiastic about the marque,” Barber added.
