Spyshots: W205 Mercedes C-Class Loses More Camo

Mercedes is set to introduce a host of brand new cars this year. Following the facelifted E-Class shown in Detroit, the next big step is probably the S-Class. But after that, their new volume compact sedan will finally arrive.

We expect the new C-Class to be unveiled at the Frankfurt Auto Show in September, about two years after BMW launched the new 3 Series sedan.

Most of the camo has been pealed off the car, but the W205 C-Class has still not revealed all of its secrets. The prototype shows much softer lines to the ones on today's car, and we thing the renderings we showed you yesterday are pretty much spot-on. We only need to look at the F800 Concept from a could of years ago to know where this design is going.

The new C-Class will be bigger, slightly longer in order to accommodate a big interior. But thanks to its redesigned architecture, it will also be lighter than the current model. Brand new turbocharged petrol and diesel engines will be used, along with a plug-in hybrid application.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
