Spyshots: Volkswagen Phaeton Facelift
Today it is the turn of the Phaeton, a model which, at first glance, seems to have been forgotten by Volkswagen. With no new generations per se released since its introduction, the Phaeton is now getting in shape for the projected launch of the new Phaeton in...2011.
Until then, the German manufacturer is working on yet another facelift for the Phaeton. Just like the upcoming new generation, the facelifted Phaeton will be unveiled at the Frankfurt Auto Show, only that this year.
Engine wise, not many details are yet available. According to some sources who, as usual, would like to remain unnamed, the Phaeton might get a new engine. The powerplant in question is either a large displacement V10, or a V12 TDI but, as we said, that's all to go on for now.
The current generation Phaeton is propelled by five engines, three petrol and two diesel, ranging, in terms of displacement, in between 3.0l and 5.0l.
With the Frankfurt Auto Show fastly approaching, new details on the Phaeton are to be expected. Keep an eye out for both the Phaeton and Volkswagen, as the Germans really seem to mean business this year.
