Spyshots: Volkswagen Golf 7 GTI
text size: A- A+
The new GTI will be underpinned by the new MQB platform of the VW Group, which means that it will be lighter than its predecessor, as the architecture also uses aluminum. The vehicle will use a TSI 2.0-liter turbocharged four that is expected to produce 217 hp and a torque of 350 Nm (258 lb-ft).
The combination of the two aforementioned assets should allow the car to offer a 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) sprint time of 6.7 seconds, which would make it 0.2 seconds faster than the current model. In addition to that, the XDS electronic limited slip differential wannabe will be replaced with a proper mechanical unit.
