2012 was a record year for Czech carmaker Skoda. They sold 939,000 cars, though looking at their figures, only a few cars stand out, the newer models (Citigo, Rapid) and the Yeti, which grew 24.3% thanks to Chinese demand.
However, their flagship model, the Superb saloon, only managed 109,100 sales, down 6.5% on 2011.
To give their biggest model a bit of a boost, Skoda have begun testing for a face lifted model. It's been spotted testing in Europe and appears to have only minimal changes. The whole front bumper has been replaced by a sub tally revised new version. This has a fresh grille. Other changes target the headlights and fog lights, though the bonnet will also change to accommodate a new badge. Don't confuse the sticker they've placed on top of the bonnet with the real grille!
If you'd like to know more about this new front end design, make sure to check out the bumper that leaked onto the web last week.
The refreshed Superb is unlikely to receive any new engines, other than maybe the new generation of 1.4 TSI engine.
