After the Toyota Aygo prototype we showed you a couple of weeks ago, the equivalent from PSA Peugeot Citroen has also emerged for testing.

This is likely the new Peugeot 108, a replacement for the 107 city car which recently received only 3 stars during Euro NCAP testing. We say this is "likely" the 108 because under the new naming strategy Peugeots named with an 8 are premium cars and this appears to be that.

Compared to the outgoing model, it appears to be bigger and wetter built. Under the camo, the styling is almost certainly going to be similar to the new 308 compact. Round the back a nice wiper blade and a spoiler at the top of the boot indicate this is going to be nothing like as spartan as the 107 is.

From what we gather, Toyota and PSA are going to keep making these city cars together and keep produce them off the same assembly line.

The new 108 is currently testing in Spain and engineers have been spotted in a convoy with Citroen's Catus small crossover. Neither will be out this year and as you can see the 108 doesn't even have headlights ready yet.
