Opel and its British sister company Vauxhall has just revealed a facelift for the Insignia range. The European GM division is thus free to take on other projects, the most important being the Corsa, still a best-seller for the brand despite being launched in 2006.
Since then, Volkswagen has launched two different generations of the Golf, but the humble Corsa has struggled agains brand new superminis using the same old architecture. Money is tight at GM's European division, so instead of going for an all-new generation' they're giving the Corsa some cosmetic surgery.

The biggest changes will be a new front end, which will have a large grille with a sweeping design, just like its little brother the Opel Adam. The rear is not much different from what w've grown accustomed to, but the interior will be brand new, featuring soft-touch plastic and a big display.

Since this Corsa prototype has been spotted towing a test trailer, it means a completely new engine is on the way, one which we expect is a relatively high-powered unit, judging from the width of the tires. It could be the new 1.6-liter diesel which has just entered production with the Astra.
