Mazda is going to introduce a brand new ‘6’ mid-sized sedan as a production model at this year’s Paris Motor Show in the autumn. We’re pretty excited about the prospect of a car that looks anything like the elegant Takeri Concept from last year, but we can’t say the same for the Mazda6 Wagon.
We’ve never been fans of the old one, but this prototype of the new Mazda6 with a huge boot has a lot of promise. First off, the profile has a lot of flowing shapes and curves, not like any boring estate we’ve seen. Also, the rear windshield is rakish like the recent shooting brake designs.
Sources suggest the Mazda6 Wagon will arrive as a 2014 model year, meaning it will follow the sedan in about a year or more.
Under the bonnet, you will not find any V6 engines, as Mazda has pledged to make the car light enough for 4-cylinder units in normal or hybrid form.
