Spyshots: BMW i8 Spotted Testing in Germany

BMW is putting half of its electric eggs in one basket, the i8 sportscar, which will make its debut only after the i3 is revealed. The Bavarians have more than one prototype in their garage, as besides the one testing in icy Sweden, this one is doing its rounds in Germany, most likely on the streets of Munich.

These latest photos are the clearest we’ve ever been able to show, since the weather hasn’t gotten in the way. They show very clearly that the i8 has a clear focus on complicated aerodynamics and deserves its title – halo green car for the BMW brand.

It’s interesting to see that even though there’s no engine there, they’ve kept the double kidney grille at the front. To our untrained eyes, it looks like the i8 is using a few parts from the 3-Series, like the antenna, and the ventilated high-performance brakes and calipers from a Z4.

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
