Spyshots: BMW F34 3-Series Gran Turismo

Our spy photographers have once again caught up with the brand new 3-Series GT or Gran Turismo, that will probably be unveiled late this year. This uses the same name as the 5-Series GT, but the design is much more svelte, a bit like that of the A5 Sportback. Though nobody will ever mistake this for a four-door coupe.

The F30 3-Series based car is still in its early stages of development, esthetically at least, if we’ve to judge it by the prototype looks of the headlights and bumpers. The rear end is quite interesting and offers a real alternative for those who don’t want a regular old sedan in their driveway. In addition to this, the 3-series GT will offer a simple hatch function rather than the twin trunk arrangement on the 5-Series GT. But we can’t be sure that this is a production shape we are seeing, as the car will be seen first as a pre-vision concept, and only then put into production.

The complete range of engines and drivetrains should be transfered from the F30 3-Series to the GT, and there’s even talk of a new ActiveHybrid with a 2.0-liter instead of the usual 3.0-liter from the 335i.
