Spyshots: Audi RS5 Cabrio Facelift

The Frankfurt Auto Show has brought us the facelifted A5 range, with the offensive being spearheaded by the refreshed RS5 Coupe. Soon after that, a series of leaked patent office images, brought us the Audi RS5 Cabrio.
Now, our spy photographers are giving us a set of images revealing the prototype of the open top go-fast Audi. The vehicle was spotted wearing S5 badges, but a closer inspection revealed elements that clearly indicate we are dealing with an RS vehicle. To be more precise, the front fascia comes with generously-sized air intakes, the wheelarches seem beefier, with the brakes are also larger.

The RS5 Carbio should offer the same tech goodies as the Coupe, which means that we’ll get a 4.2-liter V8 that allows the driver to enjoy 450 hp and a peak torque of 317 lb-ft. The engine is mated to a seven speed dual-clutch S Tronic gearbox, sending the power to the road via Audi’s quattro AWD system.

The vehicle will play the 0 to 62 mph game in around 4.5 seconds, while its top speed will be electronically limited to 174 mph (280 km/h).

The Audi RS5 Cabrio is expected to make its official debut at next year’s Geneva Auto Show and will land in dealerships soon after that, just in time for customers to enjoy the spring season in a hurry.
