Spyshots: All-New Renault Twingo Spotted for First Time, Looks Like Twin'Run Concept

As a fan of small cars and sometimes Renaults as well, I'd say these spyshots are pretty exciting yet also a bit mysterious.

Our spy photographers insist this is the first sighting of the all-new Renault Twingo. While there's no doubting this is a Renault, and a small one at that, I'm not sure about the Twingo part.

You see, the production car hiding all that camo looks exactly like the their two concepts, the Twin'Run and Twin'Z, both of which had their engines in the back. That's because they are being co-developed with Daimler's smart division.

One of those two concepts had a big "5" on the door, and that's why I think this prototype is something else. Yep, you guess it, the rebirth of the 5.

It's a stretch of the imagination, I know. But this smart in Renault clothing is surely rear-engined and a five-door. That has absolutely nothing to do with the Twingo.

The car in the spyshots also looks nothing like the current Twingo, but hares more than a passing resemblance with the 5, especially at the front where square headlights hint at retro styling.

Whether this is the new 5 or the new Twingo, it's very cool and very modern. It could also be fun to drive, as those extra-wide rear tires are definitely not there to save you fuel.
