However, the saga of the W222 platform still has plenty of things for us to learn. A new two-door model will come to replace the CL-Class and soon after that the Pullman limo will fill the gap left by Maybach.

The Pullman name originates from luxurious railway carriages which had sleeping and dining quarters. The name was also associated with S-Class version offered in the past. This S600 model marks the return to form for the Pullman brand, accompanies by the traditional V12 twin-turbo engine.

Key rivals for this car will include the new 2014 Bentley Flying Spur and the Rolls Royce Ghost. Technologically, the Mercedes should be easily able to match these with an array of active safety systems and cameras, high speed internet as well as onboard TV and phone.

This test vehicle captured by our spy photographers shows the S600 Pullman with very little camouflage, covering just the rear quarter glass and the lights.

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
