Spyshots: 2014 smart fortwo Test Mule Looking Like a Twingo
text size: A- A+
A prototype for the new smart has once again been spotted, this time under the grip of the arctic winter in Norther Sweden, where it was undergoing cold weather testing.
This test car actually looks like a twinge, and that's because it used that car's body to hide its real identity.
The car is the result of the Edison Project agreement, entered by Renault-Nissan and Daimler in April 2010. This test mule will likely not only turn into the new smart city car but also a Renault model called the Izzy, sitting underneath the next Twingo in the model range. Both should have both conventional petrol engines and EV powertrains.
