There comes a point in every housewife's life when she needs a bit of nip and tuck to feel young again, to stand up to all the young girl in the cul-de-sac.
For that Opel (and vauxhall) Meriva, that time is soon, since it was launched in 2010. We rather like the new Merva, since it's so much cooler than the older model, but the Germans have a new corporate identity which has to be adopted. The side of the car was always one of the coolest in the MPV segment, so that hasn't been changed.
A completely new front end design will be adopted, together with updates to the rear. LED running lights, a larger grille and revised engine range will make the Merva facelift a much more attractive car. This is especially important now, since the C-MPV segment is getting crowded by new cars like the Peugeot 3008 facelift, Citroen C4 Picasso.
Speaking of engines, the 2014 Opel Meriva will come with brand new engines. Opel has announced a new 1.6-liter diesel with 136 PS, replacing its aging 1.7-liter. There's also a new 1-liter SIDI Turbo, which would make a great entry-level engine, offering better economy compared to the basic 1.4-liter 100 hp unit offered with the car.
