MINI is turning the Paceman Concept from the 2011 Detroit Auto Show into reality, with a car they are going to call the “Countryman Coupe”. It will most likely be shown at the Paris Auto Show this September, with deliveries to start in mid-2013. Thus, it will be known as a 2014 model year car when it goes on sale in the US.
Caught testing in German was this prototype for the car which looks to be one of the many base diesel or petrol versions, since it only has one exhaust pipe and no body kit.
We’ll remind you that the five-door MINI Countyman is sold in Europe with a 98 PS 1.6-liter in the One variant, a 1.6-liter diesel with 90 PS in the One D, a 122 PS 1.6-liter in the normal Cooper, and a 112 PS diesel for the Cooper D.
That’s just the bottom of the range, because the Countyman Coupe will also have the more powerful turbo 1.6-liter of the Cooper S and the JCW, plus a 143 PS 2.0-liter diesel for the Cooper SD.
