Spyshots: 2014 Mercedes C-Class Reveals Its New Design

Mercedes can hide the new C-Class under a lot of camo all it wants, sooner or later it will have to come out for an official photo shoot. That's exactly what happened here, as the all-new compact executive saloon was seen totally undisguised with a Porsche Cayenne camera car in tow.

Just as predicted, the C-Class looks like a baby version of the S-Class. Which is not to say it's cute, just a little bit smaller. Responsible for this aggressive look is the AMG styling pack fitted to this car. This is the very top-spec model Mercedes will try to show us in the official press release, maybe a month from now.

Compared to other compact executives, the new C-Class is quite the elegant looker, certainly if we were to compare it to the Lexus IS or the brutish BMW 3 Series. It doesn't seem like a revolution but we only need compare the W205 to the outgoing W204 in order to understand this is a much better looking car.

Maybe our biggest complaint with this C-Class, it's that the boot opening looks a little too small, having shrunk between two imposing taillights.

The photo shoot and recent reports – all clues point toward the official debut of the car taking place at January's NAIAS in Detroit. We're eagerly waiting to see how much more of the engine range or the other new C-Class models they will show there.
