The market for four-door saloons isn’t what it used to be, and that’s probably why Bentley is switching things around and making an SUV now. But the British luxury makers have not forgotten their roots and found anew recipe for style, and it involves eight cylinders, not twelve.
This is the shape of the next generation o Continental Flying Spur, powered by the same twin-turbo V8 engine as GT coupe. Eight cylinders instead of twelve might sound like 2/3 the fun, but that’s simply not the case. The engine will provide better economy, a lighter car and sportier noise... if that’s ever concerned a luxury buyer. You can also expect the Flying Spur V8 to be cheaper than the W12 version.
Under that fake BMW face is a completely new style for Bentley, previewed by the EXP 9F SUV concept.
500 horsepower, zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in about five seconds and a top speed of around 180 mph should ensure a much sportier vehicle than any we’ve seen so far.
