Now that Porsche has launched the Carrera and Carrera S versions of the new 991 generation 911, the automotive producer can focus on the various special models of the rear-engined coupe. Yesterday, we showed you a series of spyshots of the Turbo Cabriolet and now it’s time to see Porsche testing the GT3 version.
The GT3 has always been a race car for the road and the new generation won’t be an exception. However, for the first time, the vehicle could be available with an automatic gearbox only. Porsche is currently testing both the seven-speed manual and dual-clutch PDK prototypes and the company could only allow one to enter production. If that happens, the PDK will certainly be the choice, since this dominates 911 sales. Either way, the transmission will be used to channel around 450 naturally aspirated hp.
The prototype we see here comes with the typical GT3 front fascia, as well as with the center twin exhaust pipes, but lacks the specific massive rear wing. As for the air intakes on the rear wings, these are fake.
