Spyshots: 2011 Hyundai Elantra

Hyundai is currently working on the Elantra and voices familiar with the matter are hinting that the new model won't arrive sooner than 2012, to be sold as model year 2013. However, recent rumors are suggesting that the South Korean manufacturer has different plans when it comes to the new Elantra, so the long-awaited launch could happen sooner, maybe this year and thus be marketed as a 2011 model year.

And the adjacent photos are here to confirm this. Obviously, there are no technical details available, but it might seem like the future Elantra, which could be sold exclusively outside Europe, will boast a slightly longer wheelbase than the existing model.

Since the guys over at Hyundai are keeping all things secret when it comes to the Elantra, a possible venue to witness the introduction of the car could be the Paris Motor Show this year, which would allow the company to start marketing the car in early 2012.

As for engines, the lineup will most likely feature upgraded versions of the existing units, with significant improvements in the fuel consumption and emissions areas. A hybrid version will most likely make it to production as well as Hyundai is one of the companies that are aiming to introduce green variants for most of its models.

More details will probably emerge in the next months, in case the company really intends to showcase the car at one of this year's auto show.
