Sportec SPR1 T80, the 858 HP Porsche 997
The tuner squeezed the hell out of the 3.6l 24 valve flat six T80M engine to make it produce all that power. To give us an idea of what 858 hp means, Sportec found an interesting comparison. Since each of the four wheels channels 214.5 bhp, it would be like "having a Volkswagen Golf GTI powering each tire." Eat your heart out, Piech!
Of course, reaching sixty is a 3 second child play for the SPR1 T80, with 186mph (300kmh) appearing in just 18.9 seconds. Unfortunately, the top speed is not yet rated, but Sportec assures us that a "top speed of more than 236mph (380 km/h) has been recorded at Nardo, Italy."
We're not sure if after knowing this about the Frankenstein 997 features such as 20 inch forged alloy wheels or a carbon fiber rear wing will do much to impress you. Still, enhancements to parts of the car other than the engine do exist, and we list some of them below.
- modified spring and damper settings
- uprated rear axle links
- active suspension
- zinc coated galvanized steel body-shell with integrated safety cell
- door bars and removable rear cross brace in safety roll cage
- six point safety belts
- GPS car locator
- sport seats
- full leather interior
- stainless steel scuff plates
- multifunction steering wheel
- navigation system
- car hi fi system
The SPR1 T80 will make its entrance between July 22 and 24 in the UK. Automotive Performance Services, Sportec's UK partner, will take the monster to the Salon Prive at London’s Hurlingham club.
One question remains though: what's the difference between the SPR1 T80 and the SPR1M? Can you tell? Besides the name, that is...
