Special Editions Elise SC and Exige S RGB

British manufacturer Lotus announced over the weekend the roll off of two new special editions of its Elise and Exige models, both built in honor of former director of engineering Roger Becker, who retired this January.

Set to be released in September, both models will come equipped with Sports and Touring packs as standard. They will be available in four colours, Aspen White, Starlight Black, Solar Yellow & Carbon Grey, each vehicle being identified by a numbered interior plaque. The signature of Roger Becker will be featured on the side of the vehicles' body and on the Lotus nose badge.

The Elise SC RGB packs a supercharged 1.8l engine, developing 217 hp and sprints naught to sixty in 4.3 seconds. The Exige S RGB is powered by a supercharged/intercooled engine
of the same displacement, developing 257 hp and accelerating the vehicle to 60 mph in 4 seconds.

“I am honoured that Lotus has named these two special editions after me, especially as it allows me to offer the customer my favorite specifications," Becker said in a statement.

"The past 44 years have been an incredible journey and I’m looking forward to watching Lotus progress in the future, I have no doubt that the company will continue to go from strength to strength.”

After the release of these two models, Lotus will retire the 1.8l engine supplied by Toyota, due to emission regulations restrictions. These means the Elise R, Elise SC, Exige S and Exige Cup 260 will no longer be available in Europe.
