What, the unified new platform is delaying the next generation Prius? No time to explain - quick, put out a special edition current Prius out on sale to keep people busy!
Toyota already accustomed us with its old switcharoo when bad things happen. Just take a look at how many special edition Scion models have been made just to kickstart sales.

Slow sales is not the case for the Prius in the US, but to keep the car interesting for another year, the 2015 Persona Special Edition is said to be “tailored with elegant exterior and interior touches that make it unique.”

That translates into a visual package that adds 17-inch alloy rims finished in dark metallic, two special colors (Blizzard Pearl and Absolutely Red), “Persona Series” badges, gray stitched SofTex trimmed interior, dark chrome bezels on the steering wheel and shift knob, blue illuminated front footwells while the only technical addition is represented by heated electric mirrors with turn indicators.

Price for all these? The Prius Persona comes at a MSRP of $26,985, and if you want the Blizzard Pearl exterior finish you have to stick up $395 more. And you won’t even need to wait until 2015, because the car will be available starting September this year.

Power comes from the same Hybrid Synergy Drive comprising a 1.8-liter VVT-i engine mated to an e-CVT, developing a total of 134 bhp (100 kW). Just enough to carry you and your family/friends around while returning a combined fuel consumption of 50 mpg.
