It's been a while since South African 3 Series models had the 316i badge on the boot. The last time it happened was on the back of the E36 models, before the introduction of the E46 back in 1998. This year, the entry-level 3er will make a comeback.
According to IOl.co.za's source at BMW South Africa, the 316i F30 model will be introduced in the South African country later this year.  It will have the same engine as the 116i, a turbocharged 1.6-liter petrol unit that develops 136 HP and 240 Nm (177 lb-ft) of torque due to over boost.

The pricing was already released for the manual and automatic models but we don't know for sure what standard options will be fitted on these cars.

The 316i will also have the usual 'Lines' at its disposal with prices ranging from R365,136 ($40,853 €31,320) for the Modern Line up to the pricier M Sport Line which starts off at R382,736 ($42,822 €32,830).
