After a few of its brand new GT3 track-focused sportscars caught fire, Porsche discovered a problem with its 3.8-liter engine. Just under 800 examples that had been sold had to be parked until a solution was eventually found. Brand new engines with a stronger block have begun to be built and will be fitted to existing cars free of charge. As compensation, Porsche is also offering one year of extra warranty. End of story?
Not even close. It seems the Germans are actually compensation people financially. According to a newly formed organization called the GT3 Worldwide Action Group, some customers in the US have been offered $2,000 (€1,440) for every month that the car is not drivable just to ensure they aren't dropping their GT3s like bags of bad lemons.
The fact this is secretly going on makes it look like Porsche is giving some people hush money and taking others for granted. For their brand image, it might have been better not to compensate anybody at all. Oh boy, will this mess ever go away?

We can understand why Porsche didn't put this in the press release…
But the thing is, people aren't happy with that either, not because it's not enough, but because compensation isn't being evenly distributed worldwide. According to them, people in Britain are getting no compensation whatsoever, while one owner in Dubai is being in payed a massive $12,000 (€8,600) in total. The fact this is secretly going on makes it look like Porsche is giving some people hush money and taking others for granted.
