Ever since the first solar panels were created, researchers have been looking for ways to use this type of technology in the transportation industry. The idea of integrating solar panels in the bicycle’s wheels is not new, but it appears that they have evolved well enough to actually become easy to use on a massive scale. They are also efficient enough to take the need for optional charging out of the game completely.
And that is exactly what is supposed to make the Solar Bike stand out as a great invention. Designed by Jesper Frausig from Denmark, the two-wheeler was already awarded by the Index Design to Improve Life. The Danish nonprofit organization works towards promoting designs aimed at the improvement of people’s lives worldwide, both in developed and developing countries.

Its battery is charged by using renewable solar energy, which makes the bike cost-free. It also has no need for any charging point.

Speed can be easily adjusted, starting from the standard 25 km/h (15.5 mph) through a maximum of 50 km/h (31 mph). Not only does it look like a regular bicycle, but it also works like one. That is if you don’t feel like using the battery’s energy, of course.

Speaking of the battery, according to its creator, its capacity stores sufficient energy for 70km. While the Solar Bike is standing still, it charges the battery. When it's in motion, the solar cells and the battery provides energy for the motor.

Sure, some questions remain unanswered, such us how much it takes for the Solar Bike to get fully charged, how much it will cost, and when exactly it will reach the production line.
