Available on both the regular model and the wagon, Skoda's new Superb SportLine has jolted our memory banks.
The SportLine name has been used in the past by the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and by several Volkswagen models, including a sporty Transporter Kombi in the company of which we once spent a summer vacation.

The SportLine is basically just a trim level that's supposed to fill the void left by the lack of a faster RS version of the Superb.

The first thing you need to know about this Frankfurt Motor Show debut is that the engines stay the same. You will be able to buy everything except for the basic 1.4 TSI and 1.6 TDI, which is not a bad thing at all.

The only performance difference you will be able to feel comes from the larger 19-inch alloy wheels and the fact that the suspension has been lowered by 15mm.

The body kit has not been touched. However, the fact that the grille is now black is easily noticed, as are the tinted windows and taillights.

Inside, customers will enjoy a new three-spoke steering wheel and a gear shifter wrapped in leather with contrast stitching.

The trim on the dashboard will have a carbon fiber finish. We have no photos of the cabin yet, but we suspect the aluminum pedals Skoda promises are the same ones as on the Golf GTI or Leon Cupra.

If you're curious to see what a Superb RS model would look like, check out this rendering. But know that the Czech flagship is not lacking in the power department. It might not be available with a V6 engine anymore, but a turbocharged 2-liter turbo with 280 horsepower has taken its place.

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
