Skoda Rapid Combi Rendering

A brand new Skoda model is a rare thing, but the Rapid liftback sedan was definitely a good idea. The model sits between the Fabia and the Octavia in the range, and it will take the affordable saloon role from the latter.

The Rapid five-door liftback sedan is 4,483 mm long, which makes it 83 mm shorter than the outgoing Octavia II, which will be replaced by a bigger model at the end of the year.

The Octavia will be free to move up-market, while the Rapid will likely take on its practical roles. Given this, a Rapid Combi estate is very likely.

The platform will continue to be the A05+, a stretched version of the one used by the Ibiza or Polo. The powertrains will start with the base 1.2-liter and end with the popular 1.6 TDI from the VW Group.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
