After seeing massive demand for its SUVs, Skoda is looking to branch out into the "coupe" side of things with the Kodiaq GT, a slightly sportier version of the current model.
Those looking for a Czech rival to the BMW X6 will be sorely disappointed, as the Kodiaq GT is not cut from the same cloth. But even though they've only played with the roof and a few other lines, you could swear this is how it was supposed to look from the beginning.

Even though these are our first spyshots of the Kodiaq GT, we already know what it looks like. The model has already been revealed in China, which is not surprising considering that's Skoda's biggest market.

And based on our previous post, we can tell that the GT model has a slightly revised bumper with a mesh insert below the main grille, new taillights and even a couple of round exhaust pipes that stick out of the bumper like on the old X6. Obviously, the roof is chopped, and the trunk is slightly sloped.

You'd have to be blind not to notice those giant bucket seats, which are covered in tanned leather on one of the models. Obviously, the Octavia RS has bucket seats too, but they don't look like that at all.

Interestingly in China, the Kodiaq GT is offered with 186 HP and 220 HP versions of the 2.0 TSI, which would set it apart from the regular model. Obviously, this is a prime candidate for the RS twin-turbo diesel engine. But what would you call that... Kodiaq GT RS?

Since China makes vehicles more cheaply and, according to Volvo, at better quality than Europe, we wouldn't be surprised if these prototypes were shipped over from the Shanghai-Volkswagen, where production should have started.

You have to hand it to the people who made the camouflage. It's supposed to look like the Mazda CX-5, isn't fooling anybody, but is worth a good laugh.
