Silly Toyota Prius "R" Wants to Be like an Acura NSX

Toyota Prius "R" 1 photo

When you drive a Toyota Prius, the main thing to do is to ride the hybrid wave and enjoy the fuel efficiency, as well as the tree-hugging benefits, right?
Well, making such an assumption is plain wrong. That's because the world has been blessed with Toyota owners who customize their rides in the fashion that can be seen above (fedora tip to Redditor ZirJohn for the image).

The photo was snapped at a car meet, with the Prius seeming almost like it wants to fall into the same category with the admittedly-just-as-wide NSX parked in front of it.

Heck, this gasoline-electric Toyota even comes with an "R" badge, a notion the NSX (not the one seen here, though) is no stranger to.

Before we move on, we have to give the Prius this much: the overall fit and finish, as well as the attention to detail seem to be top class. However, this only makes us wonder about the reasons why somebody would waste such quality work on a car that's designed to do anything but generate downforce and go fast.

Oh well, perhaps this owner is into Japan's racing world. You know, the place where the Prius has become a GT300 monster that is now in its second generation.

We've discussed the 2016 Toyota Prius GT300 racecar at its debut, which took place in mid-January and things are looking as aggressive as ever.

Electric propulsion aside, the GT300 sports Toyota Racing Development's trusted RV8K 3.5-liter naturally aspirated V8, so this is one of those ultra rare hybrids that also appeal to people for whom the word "efficiency" has no relevance.

Nevertheless, perhaps we shouldn't be all that surprised upon discovering the Prius in the photo above. After all, stranger Prius have been spotted over the years, and we're talking both from and function here.
