The SFM Saxxx MadAss E is an interesting electric scooter with sporty looks and a certain appeal to it. While we loved the folding design that allows it to occupy a diminutive footprint when parked, stored, and even when charging, here are some of the things that we strongly believe should be revisited.
The first thing on the list is placing a cargo bag in the way of water and dirt jets that the front wheel spews when riding in the wet. The front mudguard does indeed extend a bit towards the back of the wheel, but we honestly doubt it can prevent splashes, making the bag attached to the down tube the first thing you’ll hate when reaching your destination after riding in the rain. The same goes if riding through a pond or puddle of mud.
There is a certain makeshift vibe about this machine but a closer look tells a neat story. Plus, there aren’t too many folding two-wheelers with lousy craftsmanship these days, especially as the prices of electric bikes is not the lowest of them all. The Saxxx MadAss E has room for a passenger in its sporty seat, despite the fact that its white cover might trick the eye and make one believe this is a solo machine.
Being able to carry a passenger adds solid practicality to the MadAss E, making this small, economical vehicle also great for fun weekend rides.
On the tech side, the Saxxx MadAss E is quite appealing, too, with a rear 1500W motor and a peak torque of 200 m (147 lb-ft). It can be equipped with either a 48V 20 Ah 960 Wh Lithium-Ion battery or a 48V 28 Ah 1344 Wh pack, with the top speed of 25 km/h (15.5 mph) and 45 km/h (30 mph), respectively.
The range on a full charge is between 50 and 60 km (31-37 mph), with a recharging time of 6-7 hours. The 14" wheels come with a disc brake in the front and a drum in the rear. Cue a 48 kg (106 lb) weight, the 80 cm (31.5") seat height and the €3,000 ($3,345) price tag and the SFM Saxxx MadAss E looks like an appealing green transport solution to solve the urban clutter problem.
