Semi Truck Driver Destroys His Precious Cargo of Brand-New Mercedes-Benz SUVs

Those few months from the moment you place your order for a new car and the blissful day it finally arrives feel like an eternity, don't they? A painfully and excruciatingly long eternity.

But then you get that call telling you that your car is en-route to the dealership and that you can come in tomorrow to pick it up. You start planning for a sleepless night and a very quick departure the moment that final call comes in.

If your car happened to be on its way to the dealership on board of a semi truck heading west on Highway 36 near Cynthiana, in Harrison County, then that call might have never come. Or it did, a few hours later than expected and with a totally unexpected message.

At around 8:30 on Tuesday morning, a truck full of brand-new Mercedes-Benz SUVs was found toppled over to the road's shoulder. Initial reports suggest that an animal crossing the road might have been the cause of the accident, but an investigation is still underway.

The full extent of the damages caused is also unknown, even though the image speaks for itself: the Mercedes-Benz GLS400 4MATIC up-front alone is worth in the vicinity of $100,000. While the cars might not be totaled, it's hard to imagine they will be repaired and sold as new without a hefty discount.

The only good news surrounding the incident is that the driver is unharmed. However, we can all feel for those people who have been waiting for their cars for so long, only to find out they'll have to be patient for even longer.

Present on the scene of the accident was Sheriff Shane Stephens, who said that this highway patch wasn't the best place to drive a semi on. Talking to WKYT, he said, "This road isn't meant for semis, it's too curvy. If you operate on this road you need to be careful. Fortunately, he [the driver] is ok."

The westbound lane of Highway 36 was closed during the clean-up efforts which lasted through the evening, while traffic on the eastbound one was only slowed down.
