Today, Spanish carmaker SEAT revealed the fully production-ready version of the Ibiza Cupra, a facelift we saw in concept form at the Worthersee.
Getting straight to the point, under the bonnet, you will find the same 1.4 TSI engine with 180 PS and 250 Nm of torque (184 lb-ft). It’s claimed that it will push the car from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds and on to a top speed of 228 km/h (142 mph), both figures being improved on the old ones: 7.2 seconds to 100 km/h and 225 km/h (140 mph) top speed.
Just like the regular Ibiza, the Cupra has suffered a cosmetic makeover, which has let it with new headlights, bumpers and bonnet. LED daytime runners are now standard. Also new is the SEAT Portable System, with navigation, Bluetooth audio and trip computer.
“The Ibiza CUPRA is one of the icons of the SEAT brand,” said James Muir, President of SEAT S.A. “Its stunning design and refined dynamics promise driving fun mile-for-mile. With its innovative technologies, upgraded interior and further improved quality, the new Ibiza CUPRA clearly shows how quickly and consistently our brand is continuing to develop.”
In Britain, the car will arrive early next year, starting from £18,825.
